Lip balmerama

Ok, so I apologize for the utterly ridiculous title, but is it my fault that this was the first thing that came to mind? I think not.

Lately, I've been experiencing chapped lips 24/7 and it is driving me nuts. With this is mind, I continued to use my beloved Nivea "Kiss of Moisture Hydrating Lip Care." As much as I didn't want to admit it, and trust me, it took like two weeks to get here, I realized that it wasn't getting the job done. Sure it feels lovely, matte, and smooth when I put it on, but I would have to reapply dozens of times throughout the day. (I hate to say it, but I think it was also drying out my lips!) I thought to myself, "How can this be? I used this all during the summer and I was smitten!" Having a small lapse in intelligence I finally came to the conclusion that Nivea was a perfect lip balm for more humid months, but not really what I needed in January. And so the hunt began.
I have recently made the slightly impulsive purchase of Fresh's "Sugar Lip Treatment." I'm not going to lie, it was kind of embarrassing to shell out $22.50 for lip balm, but I think it was the pretty packaging, encouraging words of the Sephora sales associate, and lure of it's cult following that made me do it. And at Sephora, nothing is embarrassing. So far, I'm a happy camper. It smells like lemon, feels lovely, but I still do have to reapply-but not as much as before! Bonus: it has SPF 15! I'm using it in conjunction with another nighttime lip treatment, but I'll do a review on that at a later date when it's had time to work or fail miserably.
The verdict: Nivea still calls out my name from my bathroom cabinet, but I'm going to wait until my lips feel human again. Until then, Fresh has delivered, but I'm sure there are other reasonable products out there for less than half the price.

P.S. I do have other lip balms that I'll review as well in a separate post.
